1. (Common Noun-Neuter) A species of high land broadcast rice sown in the spring and harvested in the beginning of the rainy season. It has many subspecies such as Ahu Bora, Ahu Joha etc. Most of the species have reddish rice seed. However, some of them are white in color too. বাম মাটিত সিঁচি খেতি কৰা আৰু সোনকালে পকা এজাতি ধান ৷ এই ধান ফাগুন-চ’তত সিঁচি বাৰিষাৰ আৰম্ভতে কটা হয় ৷ শালি ধানৰ যিমান উপজাতি আছে, ইয়াৰো প্ৰায় যিমান আছে ৷ যেনে-আহু-বৰা, আহু-জহা, ইত্যাদি ৷ ইয়াৰ প্ৰায়বিলাকৰ চাউল ৰঙচুৱা যদিও কোনো কোনো বিধ বগাও হয় ৷
