1. Budhaism(Proper Noun-Masculine) An Indian scholar of the Consciousness-Only (Skt Vijnanavada) school. Born to the royal family of the kingdom of Samatata in eastern India, he studied the Consciousness-Only doctrine under Dharmapala at Nalanda Monastery and was widely known as an outstanding scholar. According to The Biography of the Tripitaka Master of Ta-tz`u-en-ssu Temple, when the Chinese priest Hsüan-tsang visited the monastery to study in the early seventh century, Shilabhadra taught him the doctrines of the Consciousness-Only school. Hsüan-tsang then brought them back to China, thereby establishing the basis of the Dharma Characteristics (Chin Fa-hsiang; Jpn Hosso) school. বাহ্মণ কুলত জন্মা এজন বৌদ্ধ পণ্ডিত আৰু নালন্দাৰ মহান শিক্ষক৷ হিউৱেন চাঙৰ গুৰু৷
