1. (Proper Noun-Neuter) A sports day celebrated in Assam on 3rd September of every year since 1984 on the birthday of Bhogeswar Baruah, the first Arjuna Award winner from Assam and Northeast of India. Bhogeswar Baruah won Gold Medal in 800 meters race in 1966 Bangkok Asian Games. To celebrate this achievement of Baruah, a first from Assam, on the initiation of Balendra Mohan Chakrabarty, a sports enthusiast and editor of the Assamese sports magazine Abhiruchi, this sports day was started to be observed. The day is celebrated with celebration runs participated by people of different age groups and gender and cultural shows around Assam. Sports persons with achievements in different sporting fields are also felicitated on this day. Bhogeswar Baruah is the first sports person in India whose birthday is celebrated as a sports day. অসম তথা উত্তৰ-পূৱ ভাৰতৰ প্ৰথম অৰ্জুন পুৰস্কাৰ বিজয়ী খেলুৱৈ ভোগেশ্বৰ বৰুৱাৰ জন্মদিন উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত হোৱা এক ক্ৰীড়া দিৱস৷ এই ক্ৰীড়া দিৱস ১৯৮৪ চনৰে পৰা প্ৰত্যেক বছৰে ভোগেশ্বৰ বৰুৱাৰ জন্মদিন ৩ ছেপ্তেম্বৰ তাৰিখে অনুষ্ঠিত হৈ আহিছে৷ ভোগেশ্বৰ বৰুৱাই ১৯৬৬ চনৰ বেংকক এচিয়াডত ৮০০ মিটাৰ দৌৰ প্ৰতিযোগিতাত সোণৰ পদক অৰ্জন কৰিছিল৷ এই গৌৰৱ অৰ্জন কৰা শ্ৰী বৰুৱাই হৈছে অসমৰ প্ৰথম তথা বৰ্তমানলৈকে একমাত্ৰ খেলুৱৈ৷ তেওঁৰ এই উপলব্ধিক উদযাপন কৰাৰ উদ্দেশ্য, এজন খেল প্ৰেমী তথা অভিৰুচি নামৰ অসমীয়া ক্ৰীড়া আলোচনীখনৰ সম্পাদক বলেন্দ্ৰ মোহন চক্ৰৱৰ্তী দেৱৰ উদ্যোগত এই খেল দিৱস আয়োজিত হ’বলৈ আৰম্ভ হয়৷ এই খেল দিৱসত অসমৰ বিভিন্ন স্থানত দীৰ্ঘ দূৰত্বৰ দৌৰ আৰু সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানৰ আয়োজন কৰাৰ লগতে বিভিন্ন খেলত সফলতা লাভ কৰা খেলুৱৈসকলক সম্বৰ্দ্ধনাও জনোৱা হ্য়৷ ভোগেশ্বৰ বৰুৱাই হৈছে ভাৰতৰ প্ৰথম খেলুৱৈ যাৰ সন্মানত এতি ক্ৰীড়া দিৱস উদযাপন কৰা হয়৷
