1. (Common Noun-Common) A tribe of Upper Assam, prevalent even before arrival of the Ahoms. A distinct ethnic group of Assam mostly residing in the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia Districts of Upper Assam and an integral part of greater Assamese social and cultural matrix. They are part of the greater `Bodo-Kachari` ethno-group of Assam speaking Tibeto-Burman languages or claiming a common ancestry. আহোম সকলৰ আগমনৰ পূৰ্বেও অসমত থকা উজনি অসমৰ এক জনজাতি৷ বিশেষকৈ উজনি অসমৰ ডিব্ৰুগড় আৰু তিনিচুকীয়া জিলাত বসবাস কৰা, বৃহত্তৰ অসমীয়া সমাজ আৰু সংস্কৃতিৰ এক অবিচ্ছেদ্য অঙ্গ এক সুকীয়া জনগোষ্ঠী৷
